Sleep, sleep, my love, my love,
Your labour is not lost;
A golden thread now sits
Within the framework of the world
And warms the hearts of all you knew,
And thaws their winter frost.

A better love, a greater grief
Watching every leaf that falls
Cherishes the love you gave
To all the little souls who
Too will sleep, until He calls,
“Arise, my love, my love!”
For death is but a winter’s dream,
The ferry for the final stream.
